(A) Check side view mirror warning light |
When the outside rearview mirror warning light mechanism is not working properly, the Master warning light (
) appears on the instrument cluster,
along with a diagnostic warning message that stays visible for several seconds.
Have Safe Exit Assist inspected professionally by an authorized Kia dealer.
Safe Exit Assist disabled
When foreign material (such as accumulated heavy snow or driving rain) covers the rear bumper near the rear corner radar sensors, or when you install a trailer or carrier, it can significantly reduce detection performance and temporarily limit or disable Safe Exit Assist.
|
|
(A) Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked. |
A notification warning message and the Master warning light (
) display clearly on
the
instrument cluster. This temporary notification does not indicate a permanent hardware malfunction of Safe Exit
Assist.
Safe Exit Assist will resume normal operation once you thoroughly remove foreign material (such as snow or rain) from the sensor and restart the vehicle.
If Safe Exit Assist still does not operate properly after you remove foreign material (such as snow or rain) from the sensor area, have your Kia Sorento inspected promptly by an authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
Even when a warning message does not appear on the instrument cluster, Safe Exit Assist may occasionally be restricted and fail to operate properly under adverse environmental conditions.
Safe Exit Assist may not operate properly in wide open terrain where no reflective background objects are detected, or when the detection sensor is immediately blocked with foreign material right after you turn the vehicle ON.
TIP
You can check the real-time operational status of Safe Exit Assist directly within the service message center of the utility information view on your instrument cluster display window.
TIP
Turn Safe Exit Assist OFF through the menu when preparing to install or remove a trailer, carrier, or external accessory attachment. Remember to turn Safe Exit Assist back ON once your equipment setup is successfully completed.
Safe Exit Assist on your Kia Sorento may operate abnormally or unexpectedly under the following real-world circumstances:
You exit the vehicle in locations where there is dense, overgrown foliage or roadside bushes.
You exit the vehicle where the road surface is wet, flooded, or covered in standing water.
An approaching vehicle is moving exceptionally fast or crawling at a very slow speed.
NOTE
For more detailed information regarding the rear corner radar specifications and alignment, refer to the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) section.
WARNING
Safe Exit Assist may experience performance limitations or fail to operate properly if there is strong electromagnetic interference in the surrounding area.
Safe Exit Assist may not activate for approximately 3 seconds after you restart the vehicle or initialize the rear corner radars.
Even after you restart the vehicle, Safe Exit Assist may not function properly if a physical radar obstruction or internal system malfunction persists.
Operation of the wireless communication hardware installed on the Kia Sorento is subject to the following two conditions:
This device may not cause harmful radio interference, and
this device must accept any interference received, including unwanted interference that may cause undesired operation of the system.
TIP
Any changes or modifications to the equipment not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.
