Kia Sorento: Safe Exit Warning settings. Safe Exit Warning operation. Warning and control
|
|
While the vehicle is ON, tap Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driving Safety > Safe Exit on the infotainment system screen of your Kia Sorento to configure this advanced protective feature according to your personal driving preferences.
WARNING
If you deselect Safe Exit, Safe Exit Warning cannot warn you about approaching traffic hazards. You should always be aware of your immediate surroundings and exercise extreme caution when exiting the vehicle in busy traffic environments.
CAUTION
When using a Kia genuine Trailer Kit and the connector is plugged into your Kia Sorento, Safe Exit Warning automatically turns OFF to prevent false alerts. In this case, you cannot get assistance from Safe Exit Warning. Pay extra attention when you open your doors while the function is inactive. A Kia genuine Trailer Kit automatically determines whether a trailer is connected and communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems.
TIP
If you restart the vehicle, Safe Exit Warning conveniently maintains its last user-configured setting to ensure seamless daily operation.

To change the Warning Methods settings while the vehicle is ON, tap Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Warning Methods on the infotainment system screen of your Kia Sorento. You can customize the following audio and priority settings to tailor the alert feedback:
Warning Volume: Adjusts the output volume of the warning sound. If you turn OFF the Warning Volume setting, the function will still warn you at a preset low volume level to guarantee your continuous safety on the road.
Driving Safety Priority: Automatically lowers all other multimedia and entertainment audio volumes whenever the Driving Safety system of the Kia Sorento triggers an active warning alert.
TIP
Your configured Warning Methods settings may also apply universally to the warning indicators of other integrated driver assistance systems across the vehicle.
Warning Methods maintain their customized last user settings when you turn OFF and subsequently restart the vehicle engine.
The specific setting menu layout or availability may vary for your vehicle depending on your regional market features and trim specifications.
Safe Exit Warning issues an immediate collision warning when occupants attempt to exit the vehicle into potential blind-spot hazards.

(A) Collision Warning
The integrated warning light on the outside rearview mirror blinks rapidly, a clear warning message appears prominently on the instrument cluster screen, and a distinct audible warning sounds to alert passengers.
Safe Exit Warning actively monitors and warns you under the following precise operating circumstances:
Your vehicle speed is below 2 mph (3 km/h)
The speed of the approaching vehicle from the rear is above 4 mph (6 km/h)
WARNING
For your absolute safety, always adjust your infotainment system settings only after parking your Kia Sorento securely at a safe location.
Safe Exit Warning may fail to display a visual warning message or generate an audible chime if another higher-priority system warning message or sound is triggered simultaneously.
You might not hear the warning sound of Safe Exit Warning if your surrounding traffic or cabin environment is exceptionally noisy.
Safe Exit Warning does not operate in all conceivable traffic situations and cannot physically prevent all potential collisions.
Safe Exit Warning may provide a delayed warning or fail to warn you depending on complex external vehicle dynamics and driving conditions. Always double-check your surroundings visually.
You and your passengers bear sole legal responsibility for any accidents or incidents that occur while exiting the vehicle. Always verify that your path is clear before opening any door.
TIP
After you turn OFF the ignition of your Kia Sorento, Safe Exit Warning continues to operate for approximately 3 minutes to protect exiting passengers, but deactivates immediately if you lock all doors from the outside.
The displayed graphics, icons, or interface colors may vary slightly depending on your instrument cluster display specifications or theme selections.
