Kia Sorento (MQ4, 2021-2026) Owner's Manual / Driver Adjustments / Mirrors / Outside rearview mirror / Reverse parking aid function: (if equipped)

When you shift the transmission gear selector into the R (Reverse) position, the outside rearview mirrors on your Kia Sorento can automatically tilt downward to give you a clear view of curbs and ground obstacles during reverse parking maneuvers.

The physical position of the outside rearview mirror selector switch (1) determines whether or not the auto-tilt feature will engage:

Left or Right: When you slide the selector switch to either the L (Left) or R (Right) position, the auto reverse dipping function is enabled, and the mirrors will tilt when reversing.

Neutral: When the selector switch is left in the center neutral position, the outside rearview mirrors will remain stationary and will not tilt down during reverse.

The outside rearview mirrors will automatically revert to their standard driving positions under any of the following conditions:

Auto reverse user settings

If the default factory dipping angles do not provide sufficient visibility for your specific parking needs, you can easily customize and calibrate the downward tilt angles of your Kia Sorento outside rearview mirrors.

You can program individual default tilt positions for both the left and right mirrors to maximize your confidence when backing up:

  1. Ensure the vehicle is completely stopped with the shift lever in P (Park) and the mirrors are finished moving.
  2. Slide the mirror selector switch to L (left) or R (right) depending on which mirror angle you wish to customize.
  3. Depress the brake pedal firmly and shift the transmission lever into R (Reverse).
  4. Allow the rearview mirror to finish moving into its default downward parking position, then adjust it to your preferred angle by pressing the directional switch buttons: ▼, ▲, ◀, ▶.
  5. To permanently save your custom setting, shift the gear out of R (Reverse) into another position, return the mirror selector switch to the neutral position, and wait for the mirror to automatically return to its normal position.
  6. Repeat the exact same configuration procedure for the opposite side mirror.

How to reset auto reverse user settings

If you wish to restore the rearview mirror automatic tilt functions back to their original factory default settings, execute the following reset sequence:

  1. Park the vehicle securely with the shift lever in P (Park) and confirm the mirrors are completely stationary.
  2. Slide the selector switch to L (left) or R (right) for the mirror you want to reset.
  3. Hold down the brake pedal and move the gear selector to R (Reverse).
  4. Once the mirror finishes its downward movement, press and hold the ▲ (up) directional switch to drive the glass higher than its normal driving position.
  5. To store the initialization, shift out of R (Reverse) or return the mirror selector switch to the neutral position. The factory default calibration will take effect during the next operation.
  6. Perform the same sequence for the other side mirror to complete the reset process.

    NOTE

Kia recommends adhering strictly to the sequence of steps outlined above when programming or resetting the auto reverse user settings. If you skip a step or jump ahead before completing the prior action, the mirror angle may fail to save or the initialization process may not execute properly.
