Kia Sorento: Power window lock button

The driver can completely disable the power window controls on the rear passenger doors by engaging the main power window lock button located on the driver's door control panel into the pressed position.

When the power window lock button is engaged on the Kia Sorento:

• The driver retains master override control and can operate all passenger power windows from the driver's main door panel switch bank.

• The front passenger can still operate their own window using the dedicated door switch mounted on their armrest.

• The rear passenger door switches are fully deactivated and cannot adjust or control the rear side windows.

When you activate the power window lock switch (the integrated indicator light turns on), the system automatically locks out the rear passenger door handles on models equipped with the Electronic Child Safety Lock System. NOTE

• To avoid sudden electrical overload and prevent damage to the power window motors or blowing a circuit fuse, avoid operating two or more window switches simultaneously. Operating windows individually ensures optimal fuse longevity and electrical stability.

• Never attempt to operate the master switch on the driver's door panel and an individual door window switch in opposing directions at the same time. Doing so forces conflicting electrical signals, causing the window glass to halt immediately without opening or closing.

Windows Safety Precautions

• NEVER leave smart keys or physical key fobs inside your Kia Sorento when children are left unattended in or around the vehicle.

• NEVER leave children unsupervised inside the cabin under any circumstances. Children can accidentally shift the transmission, engage vehicle systems, become trapped in moving window glass, or cause severe personal injury to themselves and others.

• Always inspect all window channels thoroughly to verify that hands, arms, hair, and clothing are completely clear before engaging power window closing controls.

• Do not allow children to play with or operate the power window switches. Keep the driver's power window lock button depressed in the LOCK position at all times when transporting young passengers. Serious injury can occur if a child unintentionally operates a window.

• Never extend your head, hands, arms, or any objects outside the window opening while the vehicle is in motion.

Remote window opening (if equipped)

You can lower the side windows remotely using your smart key fob even when the engine is turned OFF.

Press and hold the Door Unlock button (1) on your Kia Sorento smart key for more than 3 seconds. The power windows will automatically move down after the doors unlock, continuing to open as long as you keep pressing the unlock button (1). The window movement pauses instantly the moment you release the button.

This remote window opening function requires that your vehicle features one-touch automatic power down windows equipped on all seating positions.

WARNING

Leaving your Kia Sorento unattended after using the remote window opening feature creates a security vulnerability that may result in vehicle theft or unauthorized entry. Additionally, exercise caution during rainy or severe weather, as rainwater entering the open cabin can damage electrical interior components.

NOTE

• The remote window opening feature may stop abruptly if you walk out of remote control range during operation. Always stand near the vehicle while actively monitoring window glass descent.

• If an individual window encounters mechanical resistance or force interference, that specific window will halt immediately while the remaining windows continue opening. Always verify visually that all windows have lowered as expected.

• Use extra caution when triggering the remote window opening system, as doing so automatically unlocks the vehicle doors at the same time.
