Brake Warning Light indicator on the instrument cluster of a Kia Sorento

Check the operational status of the Brake Warning Light by toggling the ENGINE START/STOP button into the START or ON position without starting the engine itself. The indicator light illuminates automatically when the parking brake is applied while the electrical system is active.

Before putting your Kia Sorento into motion, double-check that the parking brake is completely released and the dashboard warning light is extinguished.

If the Brake Warning Light remains illuminated after you disengage the parking brake while the engine is running, it indicates an active fault within the brake system that demands immediate professional attention.

If safe, halt your journey immediately. If stopping right away is not feasible, exercise extreme caution and operate your vehicle only as far as necessary to reach a secure location or nearby repair shop.
