Kia Sorento (MQ4, 2021-2026) Owner's Manual / Driving your vehicle / All Wheel Drive (AWD) system: (if equipped)

The advanced All Wheel Drive (AWD) system engineered for your Kia Sorento intelligently delivers engine power to both the front and rear wheels, ensuring maximum traction and stability across a wide variety of road surfaces.

You should engage specialized AWD functionality whenever your journey demands extra grip and secure road handling, such as when driving on slippery, muddy, wet, or snow-covered roads.

Whenever the smart AWD system on your Kia Sorento detects a drop in road grip or a need for enhanced traction, the driving power generated by the engine is automatically and seamlessly distributed to all 4 wheels.

WARNING

Off road driving

Although this vehicle can operate effectively off road, it is designed primarily for on road driving. This vehicle is not designed to drive in challenging off road conditions. Driving in conditions that exceed the vehicle’s intended design or the driver’s experience level may result in serious injury or death.

NOTE

If the AWD warning light (Yellow AWD malfunction warning indicator light on the Kia Sorento instrument cluster) remains illuminated on the instrument cluster, your vehicle may have an AWD system malfunction. When the AWD warning light (Active AWD system failure warning light icon displayed on the Kia Sorento digital dashboard) appears, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
