Kia Sorento: 2nd row seat folding (from 3rd row)
|
For added convenience when exiting or managing cargo space, the electronic 2nd-row seat folding switches are located on the right side trim panel of the 3rd-row seating area in your Kia Sorento.
Pressing these dedicated switches will cause the corresponding 2nd-row seatback section to release and fold flat automatically.
Pressing the left switch releases and folds both the left-side seatback and the center seatback section simultaneously.
Pressing the right switch releases and folds the right-side individual seatback section.
WARNING
Driver Seat Position Check
Do not fold the rear seatbacks down until the driver's seat is positioned properly for safe vehicle operation. Failure to follow this precaution may cause the driver to operate the vehicle with the seat pushed too far forward or out of position, greatly increasing the risk of bodily injury during a sudden stop or collision in your Kia Sorento.
WARNING
Raising the Seatback Upright Safety Precaution
When you return any rear seatback to its upright position, hold the frame firmly with your hand and guide it backward slowly. If the seatback is released without being held, the spring mechanism could cause it to snap forward violently, striking passengers and causing physical injury.
WARNING
Rear Seatback Locking & Belt Protection
To guarantee optimal occupant protection in the event of an accident or sudden stop, observe these precautions when returning the rear seats to their upright position:
Exercise extreme care not to cut, twist, or damage the seat belt webbing or buckle housing.
Ensure the rear seat frame does not pinch or trap the seat belt webbing or metal buckles against the body floor.
Confirm that the seatback is completely locked into its upright stance by pushing and pulling firmly on the top of the seatback frame.
NOTE
Protecting Rear Seat Belt Buckles
When folding down the rear seatbacks in your Kia Sorento, always insert the buckles into the gaps between the seatback and bottom cushion. Store-away placement prevents the heavy seatback structure from landing on and damaging the plastic buckle housing.
TIP
Rear Seat Belt Position Guide
Whenever you return the rear seatbacks to their original upright position, remember to guide the rear shoulder belts out of their holding clips and restore them to their natural resting posture for immediate use.
WARNING
Cargo Securing Hazards
Always properly tie down and secure all cargo stored in the boot to prevent loose items from becoming dangerous projectiles in a collision. Never pile unanchored objects onto the rear seating surfaces, as unsecured items cannot be properly held by seat belts and can hit front seat occupants during hard braking.
WARNING
Safe Cargo Loading Procedure
Always make sure the engine is completely OFF, the transmission selector lever is set to P (Park), and the electronic parking brake is fully applied before loading or unloading cargo in your Kia Sorento. Neglecting these steps may allow the vehicle to roll if the gear shift lever is accidentally bumped or moved into another gear.
