Kia Sorento: Welcome system: (if equipped). Interior lights
The sophisticated welcome system on your Kia Sorento dynamically illuminates the exterior surroundings and cabin environment whenever the driver approaches the vehicle or prepares to exit after a drive.
Door handle lamp: (if equipped)
Once all vehicle doors and the rear liftgate are fully closed and securely locked, the integrated exterior door handle lamps will illuminate for approximately 15 seconds if you trigger any of the following convenience actions:
You press the door unlock button on your smart key fob.
You press the microswitch button located directly on the outside door handle.
You approach the Kia Sorento while carrying the programmed smart key within close detection range.
Headlight escort function
The headlights and taillights remain active for approximately 5 minutes after you switch the ignition OFF or transition the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ACC or LOCK state. Should you open and subsequently close the driver's door during this period, the exterior escort headlights will automatically turn off after 15 seconds.
You can also manually deactivate the headlights instantly by pressing the lock button on your smart key transmitter twice in rapid succession, or by rotating the multi-function light switch to the OFF position.
Interior light
When the overhead interior light switch is set to the DOOR position and all doors and the liftgate are closed and locked, the cabin lights will illuminate for 30 seconds upon performing any of the following actions with your smart key:
You press the door unlock command on your smart key.
You press the exterior door handle request button.
If you press the door lock button on your smart key while the cabin lights are active, the lamps will extinguish immediately.
Your Kia Sorento features a comprehensive array of carefully positioned interior illumination fixtures designed to maximize cabin visibility and convenience during nighttime operation.
CAUTION
To avoid premature vehicle battery discharge, avoid leaving the interior cabin lights switched on for extended periods when the engine is not actively running.
WARNING
Do not operate bright interior lights while driving through unlit environments at night. Unnecessary cabin illumination can create reflections on the glass and obscure your external field of view, potentially leading to dangerous traffic accidents.
Should the interior lights be left switched ON, the vehicle's electrical control module will automatically cut power to the fixtures approximately 20 minutes after the ENGINE START/STOP button is turned OFF.
If your Kia Sorento is equipped with a factory theft alarm system, the interior lamps will automatically extinguish approximately 5 seconds after the security system is successfully armed.
