System operation

Ventilation

1. Set the air intake to to optimize cabin airflow inside your Kia Sorento.

2. Set the air intake control to external air to draw fresh ambient air into the vehicle cabin.

3. Set the temperature control to the desired position to achieve optimal personal thermal comfort.

4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed to regulate overall air circulation intensity.

Heating

1. Set the mode to to direct warm air toward the lower cabin compartments.

2. Set the air intake control to external air to maintain proper oxygen levels during long journeys.

3. Set the temperature control to the desired position for efficient cabin warming.

4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed to distribute heat evenly across all rows.

5. For dehumidified heating, turn the air conditioning system ON to extract excess moisture from the air.

   If the windshield fogs up, set the mode to or to clear the glass rapidly.

Heating system operation tipss

• To keep dust or unpleasant fumes from entering the vehicle through the ventilation system when driving through congested traffic areas, temporarily set the air intake control to recirculated air. Be sure to return the control to external air intake when the irritation has passed to keep fresh air circulating inside your Kia Sorento.

• The climate control system draws air through the exterior grille located just at the base of the windshield. Ensure that this intake grille is never blocked by fallen leaves, packed snow, ice, or other seasonal debris.

• To prevent condensation and fog from forming on the inside of the windshield during damp weather:

  • Set the air intake control to external and adjust the fan speed to the desired position.

  • Turn on the air conditioning system and adjust the temperature control to the desired temperature level.

Air conditioning (A/C)

Kia A/C systems in the modern Kia Sorento are engineered with eco-conscious R-1234yf refrigerant.

1. Start the vehicle engine. Press the dedicated A/C button on the central console.

2. Set the airflow mode to .

3. Set the air intake control to external fresh air or recirculated air depending on your cooling needs.

4. Adjust the fan speed control and temperature control knobs as desired to maintain a comfortable cabin climate.

A/C system operation tips

• If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight during hot weather, open the windows for a short time to let the hot air trapped inside the vehicle escape before turning on the A/C.

• To help reduce moisture inside the windows on rainy or humid days, decrease the humidity inside the vehicle by operating the air conditioning system.

• During air conditioning system operation, you may occasionally notice a slight change in the vehicle engine speed as the A/C compressor cycles on and off. This is completely normal.

• Run the A/C system for a few minutes each month, even during colder seasons, to ensure optimal system lubrication and performance.

• When using the A/C system, you may occasionally notice clear water dripping or puddling on the ground under the passenger side of the vehicle due to condensation drainage. This is normal.

• Operating the A/C system with the air intake set to recirculated provides maximum cooling speed, but continued operation with recirculated air may cause the air inside the vehicle to become stale.

• When using the A/C system, you may occasionally notice a misty air flow because of the rapid cooling of humid intake air. This is normal.

Using the infotainment/climate switchable controller

Press the button on the switchable controller to seamlessly select either the infotainment system or the climate control panel.

Press and hold the button to quickly select the control panel’s preset default mode.

Switching between panels

Press the button on the switchable controller to select the desired control panel interface.

The selected control panel icon will illuminate brightly and the physical knob functions will change accordingly.

• The knob display illuminates according to the selected control panel mode.

• When the vehicle ignition is in the ACC state, only the infotainment system will activate.

Setting the default mode: (if equipped)

Press and hold the button to select the control panel’s default operating mode.

• After you set your preferred default mode, the control panel will return to it automatically after a certain period of inactivity, even if you temporarily switch the control panel to another mode.

• If the mode is set to OFF, the control panel will display the mode used most recently.
