Kia Sorento: Side air bag

Your Kia Sorento features integrated side airbags built into both front seatbacks as well as the outer bolsters of the second-row seats to protect torso areas.

The physical appearance and exact shape of the airbags in your vehicle may vary slightly from reference illustrations due to ongoing engineering refinements.

Side airbags offer the driver, front passenger, and second-row outboard occupants vital extra protection against lateral intrusion forces beyond what standard lap and shoulder seat belts provide.

• Side airbags deploy instantly during qualifying side-impact collisions, depending on lateral crash severity and intrusion angles.

• Depending on the crash vector, side airbags may inflate exclusively on the impacted side or deploy simultaneously on both sides of the vehicle.

• Roof-mounted side curtain airbags deploy across both sides of the cabin if a rollover or imminent rollover sequence is detected.

• Side airbags do not deploy universally across every minor side collision or rollover event.

• Side airbags serve solely as a supplemental restraint system designed to work alongside seat belts, never as a replacement. Always fasten your seat belts securely before moving the vehicle.

• To maximize protection from the side airbag system and prevent injury from inflating cushions, both front occupants must sit fully upright with seat belts properly buckled. The driver should maintain hands on the steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions, while passengers keep their arms and hands resting comfortably in their lap.

• If any front seat structure or custom seat cover sustains damage, have the vehicle inspected and repaired exclusively by an authorized Kia dealer, ensuring you inform technicians that your Kia Sorento includes side airbags and an ODS.
