Scheduled maintenance service precautions

To ensure your Kia Sorento maintains its optimal performance, longevity, and safety, it is essential to adhere to the correct maintenance schedule. Use the Normal Maintenance Schedule if your vehicle is primarily operated under standard driving conditions. However, you must follow the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions schedule if your driving patterns frequently involve any of the following:

A: You repeatedly drive short distances of less than 5 miles (8 km) in normal temperatures, or less than 10 miles (16 km) in freezing temperatures.

B: You idle the engine extensively or drive at low speeds for long distances.

C: You drive on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled, or salt-treated roads.

D: You drive in areas that use salt or other corrosive materials, or in very cold weather.

E: You drive in extremely dusty conditions.

F: You drive in areas with heavy traffic.

G: You frequently drive on uphill, downhill, or mountain roads.

H: You use your Kia Sorento for towing or camping and drive with cargo loaded on the roof.

I: You drive your vehicle as a patrol car, taxi, or for other commercial purposes.

J: You frequently drive at high speeds or engage in rapid acceleration and deceleration.

K: You frequently drive in stop-and-go traffic.

If you operate your Kia Sorento under these more demanding conditions, it is critical to inspect your vehicle, replace wear-and-tear parts, or refill fluids more frequently. Always follow the maintenance intervals defined in the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions chart to keep your vehicle running smoothly.

NOTE

Your Kia Sorento may be equipped with an advanced Oil Life Management System designed to monitor engine oil degradation based on your specific driving history. This system proactively alerts you when an oil change is necessary.

TIP

Once your vehicle surpasses 10 years of service or 100,000 miles (150,000 km), we strongly recommend transitioning to the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions schedule to account for natural mechanical aging.

Normal maintenance schedule

Performing these scheduled maintenance services is mandatory to ensure peak engine performance and effective emission control. We highly recommend keeping detailed records and receipts for all maintenance performed on your Kia Sorento to protect your factory warranty. When both mileage and time intervals are provided, ensure that you perform the required service at whichever milestone occurs first.

I: Inspect and, if necessary, adjust, correct, clean, or replace.

R: Replace or change.
