  3. Backward Safety

While the vehicle ignition is switched ON, navigate your central infotainment system interface by tapping Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Parking Safety.

Backward Safety: This specialized safety function provides vital proximity alerts or initiates automated braking intervention whenever the system calculates an imminent risk of collision with rearward pedestrians or obstacles.

CAUTION

When you attach a genuine Kia Trailer Kit and securely plug its electrical wiring harness into your vehicle receptacle, the Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist system deactivates automatically upon connection detection. While towing with this configuration, the automated collision avoidance system cannot provide support, requiring you to exercise heightened concentration and rely entirely on your physical mirrors and direct visual checks. An authentic Kia Trailer Kit intelligently detects when a trailer link is established.

TIP

Whenever you shut down and subsequently restart your Kia Sorento, the Backward Safety feature remains selected by default, preserving your customized Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist preferences.

To configure and personalize the Warning Methods settings while your Kia Sorento ignition is switched ON, navigate through your central infotainment system interface by tapping Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Warning Methods. This menu allows you to tailor the feedback alerts according to your personal driving preferences:

TIP

  • The customized Warning Methods configurations you establish for your Kia Sorento frequently apply across multiple other integrated advanced driver assistance systems.

  • Your preferred Warning Methods settings are saved automatically, retaining their exact configuration when you shut down and subsequently restart the vehicle.

  • Depending on the specific trim level and software version of your vehicle, the Warning Methods setup menu layout may vary or remain unavailable.

  • For safety reasons, the Warning Volume and Haptic Warning cannot both be disabled simultaneously; turning one warning method OFF forces the alternative notification system to remain active.
