An authorized Kia dealer employs factory-trained technicians and utilizes genuine Kia parts to service your vehicle properly and safely. For expert advice and quality service, consult an authorized Kia dealer.

Owner’s responsibility

NOTE

Maintenance Service and Record Retention are your direct responsibility as the vehicle owner.

You should retain all documentation showing that proper maintenance has been performed on your Kia Sorento according to the scheduled maintenance service charts shown on the following pages. You need this historical information to establish your legal compliance with the servicing and maintenance requirements of your vehicle warranties.

Your Warranty and Consumer Information manual contains detailed warranty terms and conditions. Repairs and adjustments required as a direct result of improper maintenance or a total lack of required maintenance are not covered.

Have your vehicle maintained and repaired exclusively by an authorized Kia dealer. Authorized Kia dealers meet Kia’s high service quality standards and receive direct technical support from Kia to provide you with a high level of long-term ownership satisfaction.

NOTE

NHTSA Safety Corrosion Alert

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a general warning to all vehicle owners regarding the risks associated with vehicle underbody corrosion. After your initial purchase, take the following steps to prevent unsafe corrosion damage to your Kia Sorento:

  • Wash the underbody of your vehicle regularly during the winter months and whenever your vehicle has been exposed to road salts or chemical de-icers.

  • Wash the underbody thoroughly at the end of the winter season to remove accumulated residues.

  • Have your vehicle inspected for corrosion annually by a professional service technician or at an authorized governmental inspection station.

  • Have your vehicle inspected immediately if you notice visual signs of corrosion flaking or metal scaling, or if you become aware of a change in vehicle performance such as soft or spongy brakes, fluid leaks, impairment of directional control, unusual suspension noises, or rattling metal straps.

  • NHTSA further advises that after a vehicle is 7 years old, it is essential that you take these indicated maintenance steps to protect yourself from unsafe corrosion conditions.

Owner maintenance precautions

Improper or incomplete service may result in operational problems. This section provides instructions only for basic maintenance items that are safe and easy to perform.

Several advanced procedures can only be performed correctly by an authorized Kia dealer equipped with specialized diagnostic tools.

NOTE

Improper owner maintenance during the active warranty period may adversely affect your warranty coverage. For details, read the separate Warranty and Consumer Information manual provided with your Kia Sorento. If you are unsure about any servicing or maintenance procedure, always have it done by an authorized Kia dealer.
