Kia Sorento Indicator Lights and System Status OverviewElectronic stability control (ESC) indicator light
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
For approximately 3 seconds when you turn the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position to complete system checks.
When there is an active ESC system malfunction. In this case, have the vehicle inspected promptly by an authorized Kia dealer.
This indicator light blinks dynamically while the ESC system is actively operating to stabilize your drive.

Electronic stability control (ESC) OFF indicator light
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
For approximately 3 seconds when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON position.
When you manually deactivate the ESC system by pressing the dedicated ESC OFF button.

Auto stop indicator light
This indicator light appears when the engine enters Idle Stop mode as part of the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system on your Kia Sorento.
This indicator light blinks for 5 seconds when the engine starts automatically to resume driving.

TIP
When the engine starts automatically with the ISG system, warning lights such as the ABS, ESC OFF, MDPS, or parking brake warning light may illuminate briefly for a few seconds. This is due to temporary low battery voltage during ignition restart and does not indicate an actual system malfunction.
AUTO HOLD indicator light: (if equipped)
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
White when you activate the Auto Hold system by pressing the AUTO HOLD button.
Green when you stop the vehicle completely by engaging the brake pedal with the Auto Hold system active.
Yellow when there is a malfunction with the Auto Hold system. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Immobilizer indicator light (without smart key)
This indicator light appears when the Kia Sorento properly detects your key’s immobilizer chip while the ignition is ON. The indicator light will disappear after you successfully start the engine.
This indicator light blinks when the immobilizer system is malfunctioning. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
This indicator light blinks:
When the immobilizer system is experiencing a fault.
In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
Immobilizer indicator light (with smart key)
This indicator light appears for up to 30 seconds when the Kia Sorento properly detects the smart key inside the vehicle cabin while the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ACC or ON position. The indicator light will disappear after you start the engine.
This indicator light blinks for a few seconds when the smart key is not detected inside the vehicle. You will not be able to start the engine without the key present.
This indicator light appears for 2 seconds and then disappears when the vehicle cannot detect the smart key inside the vehicle while the ENGINE START/STOP button is ON. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
This indicator light blinks:
When the smart key battery is weak. You will not be able to start the engine normally unless you press the ENGINE START/STOP button directly with the smart key fob. (For more details, refer to Immobilizer system).
When the immobilizer system is malfunctioning. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
Turn signal indicator light
This indicator light blinks when you engage the turn signal stalk of your Kia Sorento.
The turn signal system may be malfunctioning and should be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer if the indicator light does any of the following:
The indicator light appears solidly but does not blink.
The indicator light blinks much more rapidly than normal.
The indicator light does not appear at all when activated.
Low beam indicator light
This indicator light appears when the exterior headlights are switched ON.
High beam indicator light
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
When the high beam headlights are turned ON.
When the turn signal lever is set to the Flash-to-Pass position.
High Beam Assist indicator light
This indicator light appears:
When the headlight switch is set to AUTO and the high beam lights are actively ON.
If your Kia Sorento detects oncoming vehicles or vehicles traveling ahead, High Beam Assist will automatically switch the headlight beam from high to low to prevent blinding other drivers.

Light ON indicator light
This indicator light appears when either the taillights or headlights are turned ON.
Front fog indicator light : (if equipped)
This indicator light appears when the front fog lights are turned ON to improve visibility.
Lane Safety indicator light
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
For approximately 3 seconds when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON position.
Gray when Lane Keeping Assist operating conditions are not currently satisfied.
Green when Lane Keeping Assist operating conditions are fully satisfied.
Yellow when Lane Safety is disabled or a system malfunction is detected.
If the yellow warning light remains illuminated after the sensor has been uncovered or unblocked when Lane Safety is ON, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
The indicator light blinks green when Lane Keeping Assist is actively operating on the road.

Cruise Control indicator light
This indicator light appears when the Smart Cruise Control system is enabled and ready on your Kia Sorento.

Downhill Brake Control (DBC) indicator light
This indicator light appears:
For approximately 3 seconds when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON position.
When you activate the system by pressing the dedicated DBC button.
This indicator light blinks when DBC is actively operating.
This indicator light appears yellow when the DBC system is experiencing a malfunction.
In this case, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

All Wheel Drive (AWD) LOCK indicator light : (if equipped)
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
For approximately 3 seconds when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON position.
When you select AWD LOCK mode by pressing the AWD LOCK button. AWD LOCK mode increases drive power distribution when driving on wet pavement, snowy roads, or challenging off-road terrain.
NOTE
AWD LOCK mode
Do not use AWD LOCK mode on dry paved roads or highways, as doing so can cause mechanical noise, unwanted vibration, or permanent damage to AWD-related components.
Drive mode indicator light (NORMAL/ECO/SPORT/SMART/SNOW): (if equipped)
This indicator light appears dynamically according to which specific drive mode you select in your Kia Sorento.

Inattentive Driving indicator light : (if equipped)
This indicator light appears:
For approximately 3 seconds when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON position.
Yellow when the Driver Attention Warning system is disabled or malfunctioning.
If the indicator light remains yellow after you have uncovered or unblocked the front view camera, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
This indicator light blinks yellow when the Driver Attention Warning recommends that you take a break from driving.

Intelligent Speed Limit Assist indicator light : (if equipped)
This indicator light appears:
For approximately 3 seconds when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON position.
Yellow when Intelligent Speed Limit Assist is OFF, disabled, or experiencing a malfunction.
When the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist system is ON, the indicator displays the current local speed limit. When the Kia Sorento exceeds this speed limit, the display turns red.

Highway Lane Change Assist indicator light : (if equipped)
This indicator light appears:
Green when Highway Lane Change Assist is ready to operate.
Gray when Highway Lane Change Assist is on standby.
This indicator light blinks:
Green when Highway Lane Change Assist is actively operating.
White when Highway Lane Change Assist is canceled.

Lane Following Assist indicator light
This indicator light appears in your Kia Sorento:
When you press the Lane Following Assist button ON.
Yellow when there is a technical problem or fault with the Lane Following Assist function.
