The Downhill Brake Control (DBC) feature equipped on your Kia Sorento helps you safely descend steep inclines without requiring you to constantly keep your foot pressed on the brake pedal.
The DBC system automatically modulates the hydraulic brakes to maintain a controlled vehicle speed between 2.5 mph (4 km/h) and 25 mph (40 km/h), allowing you to focus completely on precise steering as you drive down steep slopes.
Always turn OFF the DBC system when driving on normal, level roads. Leaving it active can cause inadvertent brake activation from standby mode when driving over speed bumps or executing sharp turns.
The DBC system automatically resets to the OFF state every time you cycle the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.
You may hear mechanical hydraulic noise or feel slight pedal vibration when the DBC system is actively braking your vehicle. Additionally, the rear brake lights will illuminate automatically whenever DBC is engaged.

When the vehicle speed remains within the 2.5 mph (4 km/h) to 25 mph (40 km/h) range during an active descent, you retain the ability to fine-tune your speed by gently pressing either the accelerator or brake pedal. |

If the Downhill Brake Control indicator light turns solid yellow, the braking hardware may have experienced temporary overheating due to extended use or a system malfunction. If this warning light persists even after the system has fully cooled down, schedule an immediate inspection of your Kia Sorento with an authorized dealer. |
