Kia Sorento: Defroster. Defogging logic: (if equipped)
Your Kia Sorento is equipped with a dedicated rear window defroster designed specifically to clear frost, ice, and stubborn fog from the rear glass.
NOTE: To prevent permanent damage to the delicate electrical conductors bonded directly to the inner surface of the rear window, never clean the glass using sharp instruments or abrasive window cleaning chemical products.
To clear frost or condensation from the front windshield, please refer to the detailed instructions provided in the Windshield defrosting and defogging section.

The high-performance rear defroster applies electrical current to heat the window grid, swiftly melting frost, fog, and light ice accumulations from the rear glass while the engine is running.
If your Kia Sorento has accumulated a heavy blanket of snow on the rear hatch, brush the loose snow away manually before activating the rear defroster.
To turn the rear window defroster ON:
The indicator light on the rear window defroster button illuminates to confirm the system is active.
To conserve energy and protect the vehicle grid, the rear window defroster automatically shuts off after approximately 20 minutes of operation, or immediately when the ENGINE START/STOP button is switched OFF.
To turn off the defroster manually:
If your Kia Sorento features heated exterior mirrors, the outside mirror defrosters will activate automatically whenever you turn on the rear window defroster, ensuring clear side visibility during freezing mornings.
To minimize the risk of window fogging inside the cabin, the smart climate architecture of your Kia Sorento
automatically modulates fresh air intake and A/C compressor operation based on environmental sensors, displaying
changes through modes like
or
.
To cancel or restore the automatic defogging logic settings, follow the step-by-step procedures outlined in the two sections below.
The air intake control button indicator light will blink 3 consecutive times to confirm that the automated defogging logic has been successfully canceled or restored to its factory-programmed status.
Please note that the defog logic configuration will reset to default if the 12-volt vehicle battery becomes fully discharged or is physically disconnected.
The air recirculation indicator light will blink 3 times at half-second intervals to verify that the defogging logic has been successfully toggled or restored.
The custom defog logic settings will reset automatically if the vehicle battery experiences a complete discharge or temporary disconnection.
