Kia Sorento: Auto stop. Auto start
When you depress the brake pedal and bring your Kia Sorento to a complete halt while the Idle Stop and Go system is engaged, the engine cuts out automatically to conserve fuel.
Ensure you bring your vehicle to a complete standstill by applying steady pressure to the brake pedal while the transmission remains shifted into D (Drive) or N (Neutral).
|
The engine stops seamlessly, and the green AUTO STOP (
) indicator illuminates on your instrument
cluster.
|
(A) Auto Stop is Off. Shift to P or N and start engine manually. |
NOTE
If you lift the engine hood while your Kia Sorento is operating in Auto Stop mode, the following specific events take place:
The ISG system deactivates automatically, and the amber indicator light on the physical ISG OFF button switches on.
A safety notification pops up on the driver display:
|
(A) Press brake pedal to deactivate AUTO HOLD |
If you move the gear selector from N (Neutral) into D (Manual mode) or R (Reverse) after an automatic engine shutdown without keeping the brake pedal depressed, the engine will not restart on its own and an audible chime will sound. To re-enable ignition startup, firmly engage the foot brake.
Whenever the ISG system has automatically cut power to the engine, the power plant instantly fires back up the moment you execute any of the following control inputs:
You release pressure from the brake pedal.
You move the gear selector into R (Reverse) or D (Manual mode) while keeping the brake pedal engaged.
The engine roars back to life and the green AUTO STOP (
) icon vanishes from the dashboard
panel.
The engine automatically restarts on its own if any of the following occur:
Brake system vacuum pressure drops below the required operating threshold.
The engine has remained shut down in stop mode for an extended duration of approximately 5 minutes.
The cabin air conditioning is switched ON with the blower fan speed cranked to maximum capacity.
The front windshield defroster is activated.
The 12V vehicle battery state of charge runs low.
The heating or cooling performance of the climate control system drifts outside acceptable comfort bounds.
You shift the transmission into P (Park) while the Auto Hold feature is currently active.
You unlatch the driver side door or release your seat belt while Auto Hold is engaged.
You manually press the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) switch while Auto Hold is active.
