Kia Sorento: Smart Cruise Control malfunction
|
(A) Check Driver Assistance system |
When the advanced Smart Cruise Control system in your Kia Sorento encounters a technical issue and is not working
properly, the Master warning light (
) appears on the
instrument
cluster, accompanied by an explicit warning message that remains visible for several seconds. To ensure your safety
systems function correctly, have the Smart Cruise Control inspected promptly by an authorized Kia dealer.
Smart Cruise Control disabled
|
(A) Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked. |
When foreign material, such as heavy snow, slush, or driving rain, covers the front radar cover or sensor surface, it can significantly reduce detection performance and temporarily limit or disable the Smart Cruise Control capabilities of your Kia Sorento.
A warning message and the Master warning light (
) will
display
clearly on the instrument cluster, though they will turn off after a predetermined period. Rest assured that this
temporary notification does not indicate an internal hardware malfunction of the Smart Cruise Control mechanism
itself.
Your Kia Sorento Smart Cruise Control will return to normal operation as soon as you safely remove any accumulated foreign materials or debris from the front sensor area. Always make an effort to keep the sensor clean and unobstructed for optimal performance.
TIP
Even in situations where an explicit warning message fails to appear on the instrument cluster, the Smart Cruise Control system on your Kia Sorento may still experience temporary performance limitations.
TIP
Your Kia Sorento Smart Cruise Control may encounter operating difficulties in completely open environments where there are no surrounding objects or lane markers for the sensors to detect, or when foreign buildup obscures the sensor immediately after you power your vehicle ON.
NOTE
You can easily check the real-time operational status of the Smart Cruise Control system by reviewing the active service messages located within the utility information view of your Kia Sorento instrument cluster display window.
