Using the power liftgate automatic close feature

Kia Sorento smart key detection zone 20 to 40 inches behind the rear bumper for hands-free automatic tailgate closing
  1. With the tailgate in the fully open position, enter the rear detection zone carrying your Kia Sorento smart key (standing approximately 20 to 40 inches [50 to 100 cm] behind the rear bumper) and wait about 3 seconds for the system chime to sound.
  2. Walk clear of the rear detection area carrying the smart key; the system will sound a warning chime and lower the motorized hatch automatically into the fully locked position.

Setting the power liftgate automatic close feature

To enable hands-free automatic closing, navigate to Setup > Vehicle > Door > Power Liftgate Auto Close on your Kia Sorento infotainment touchscreen. Select the checkbox to turn the feature on, or uncheck the option to deactivate automatic closing. Refer to your vehicle infotainment manual for comprehensive setup guidance.
