Kia Sorento: Automatic reversal
|
Your Kia Sorento features an safety system that automatically detects physical obstructions. If the power sunshade or glass panel senses any object interrupting its track while closing automatically, the mechanism immediately stops, reverses direction slightly, and holds that position to prevent injury or damage.
Please note that the auto reverse safety mechanism may fail to trigger if thin, flexible, or soft items become pinched between the closing panel edge and the sunroof weatherstripping frame.
WARNING
Always inspect the entire opening to ensure all hands, arms, heads, and foreign items are completely clear of the track before closing the sunroof. Entrapment can cause serious physical injury or mechanical binding.
Never deliberately place fingers, body parts, or objects into the path of a closing glass panel or shade to test the automatic reversal safety feature. Severe pinch injuries can occur even as the system attempts to reverse.
NOTE
Do not hold or continuously press the sunroof control switch after the panel has already reached its fully open, closed, or tilted limit. Doing so strains the electrical circuit and can burn out the sunroof motor.
Avoid rapid, repetitive operations (such as repeatedly toggling between slide and tilt modes), as continuous motor stress can trigger thermal protection or cause system failure.
Inspect and clean the sunroof guide rails periodically to remove accumulated dust, leaves, and outdoor debris that can impede smooth travel.
Wipe down the perimeter seal between the sunroof glass and the roof panel regularly using a clean, lint-free cloth to maintain an airtight weather seal.
Do not attempt to operate the panoramic sunroof when environmental temperatures fall below freezing or when ice and snow are present on the roof glass. Forcing frozen components can tear rubber weatherstripping or shatter internal plastic drive gears.
Never open or operate your Kia Sorento sunroof immediately following heavy rain or a car wash. Residual water on the outer glass can splash directly inside, damaging interior electronics and upholstery.
Do not transport long items or allow luggage to protrude through the sunroof opening while driving. Sudden braking or acceleration can damage the vehicle roof frame and create a severe safety hazard.
WARNING
Keep your head, arms, and upper body inside the passenger cabin while driving your Kia Sorento. Extending body parts through an open sunroof while the vehicle is in motion exposes occupants to flying debris and severe physical injury during unexpected stops or maneuvers.
