Owner maintenance schedule

When you stop for fuel:

• Check the engine coolant level visually in the transparent coolant reservoir.

• Check the windshield washer fluid reservoir level and top it off if necessary.

• Visually inspect for low tire pressure, visible punctures, or underinflated tires around your Kia Sorento.

• Check to make sure that the front grille area of the radiator and air conditioning condenser are completely clean and not blocked with accumulated leaves, road dirt, insects, or debris. If any of these cooling components are extremely dirty, or if you are uncertain of their structural condition, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer for service.

Hot coolant

Exercise extreme caution when checking your engine coolant level while the engine is hot. Scalding hot coolant and high-pressure steam may blow out violently under pressure, causing severe personal injury.

While operating your vehicle:

• Note any sudden changes in the acoustic tone of the exhaust system or detect any unusual smell of exhaust fumes inside the passenger cabin of your Kia Sorento.

• Check for abnormal vibrations in the steering wheel while driving. Pay close attention to any increased steering effort, mechanical looseness in the steering wheel assembly, or noticeable changes in its centered straight-ahead position.

• Notice whether your vehicle constantly turns slightly, or if it noticeably pulls or drifts to one side when traveling across a smooth, level stretch of road.

• When coming to a stop, listen carefully for unusual mechanical sounds and check for vehicle drifting to one side, increased brake pedal travel distance, or unusual stiffness and difficulty engaging the brake pedal.

• If you notice any clutch slipping, delayed engagement, or overall changes in the smooth operation of your transmission, promptly take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer for diagnostic inspection.

• Check the proper mechanical holding function of the P (Park) gear position on safe, level ground.

• Check the holding capability and release mechanism of the parking brake system.

• Check for unusual fluid leaks underneath your parked vehicle, keeping in mind that clean water dripping from the air conditioning evaporator system during or after warm weather use is completely normal.

At least monthly:

• Check the engine coolant level in the coolant reservoir to ensure it remains between the designated min and max markers.

• Check the proper functional operation of all exterior vehicle lights, including the brake lights, turn signal indicators, and emergency hazard flashers.

• Check the cold inflation pressures of all road tires, including the compact or full-size spare tire. Simultaneously inspect the tread surfaces for worn tread blocks, uneven wear patterns, or structural sidewall damage.

• Check all wheel lug nuts periodically to ensure they are securely tightened to factory torque specifications.

At least once every 6 months:

• Check the radiator hoses, heater core hoses, and air conditioning refrigerant lines thoroughly for any signs of surface cracking, fluid leaks, or structural damage.

• Check the windshield washer spray pattern and wiper blade operation across the glass. Clean accumulated road grime off the rubber wiper blades using a clean microfiber cloth dampened with washer fluid.

• Check the vertical and horizontal headlamp beam alignment to ensure safe nighttime visibility without blinding oncoming traffic.

• Check the muffler box, exhaust tailpipes, protective heat shields, and metal mounting clamps for corrosion or looseness.

• Check the lap and shoulder webbing bands of all seat belts for mechanical wear, fraying, and smooth retraction function.

At least once a year:

• Clean out the body drain holes located along the bottom edges of the doors and rocker panels to prevent water accumulation.

• Lubricate all door hinge pivots and check the structural alignment and security of the hood hinges.
