If your Kia Sorento gets bogged down in deep mud, sand, or snow, you can attempt to rock it free by alternating between forward and reverse gears. Never execute this rocking maneuver if people or property are standing nearby, as the sudden release can cause the vehicle to lunge unexpectedly.

Moving up a steep grade from a standing start

When launching your Kia Sorento upward on a steep incline from a complete standstill, keep the service brake depressed while preparing your maneuver:

Select the appropriate lower gear ratio suited to your payload weight and the steepness of the slope, disengage the parking brake, and transfer your foot smoothly from the brake pedal to the accelerator while releasing the clutch or torque converter load.
