Kia Sorento: Resetting the sunroof. Sunroof open warning
|
Under specific operating conditions, the electronic control module for your Kia Sorento sunroof system may lose its baseline memory settings and require a manual reset. Reinitialization is typically necessary in the following circumstances:
The 12-volt vehicle battery has been completely discharged, disconnected, or replaced.
The dedicated sunroof electrical circuit fuse has blown or was pulled for servicing.
The 1-touch AUTO OPEN and AUTO CLOSE express function stops responding or operates erratically.
Follow this exact step-by-step sequence to reset the system calibration:
If you accidentally release the control switch mid-cycle, the reset process will cancel, and you must restart the initialization sequence from step 2.
NOTE
Failure to properly reinitialize the Kia Sorento sunroof control system following a power loss or battery disconnection may prevent automatic features from operating correctly or result in improper track positioning.
|
If the sunroof panel is left open or partially unlatched when the engine is turned off and the driver door is opened, your Kia Sorento will sound an audible warning chime for several seconds while flashing a visual warning message on the instrument cluster display panel.
Always verify that the sunroof glass and power sunshade are securely shut before exiting the vehicle to prevent cabin exposure.
NOTE
Leaving your Kia Sorento parked with the glass panel or sunshade open leaves your vehicle vulnerable to unauthorized entry or opportunistic theft. Unsealed roof panels also risk severe interior damage from unexpected rain, snow, or blowing debris.
